Father Christopher M. Garcia was elected as our rector by the vestry in July 2017.

His ministry at Christ Church will begin on Sunday, 1 October 2017. Father Christopher previously served as Rector at Emmanuel Church, Greenwood, Virginia, and as Assistant to the Rector at Christ Church, Georgetown, Washington, D.C.

Father Christopher earned undergraduate, M.B.A, and law degrees from Cornell University. His seminary education was at Virginia Theological Seminary, where he served at Washington Hospital Center; Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, Purcellville, Virginia; and Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church, Arlington, Virginia.

For twenty-five years, Father Christopher served in the U.S. Army as an intelligence officer and in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Assignments at the Pentagon brought the Garcia family to Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Burke, Virginia, which sponsored him for ordination.

Father Christopher met his wife, Cheryl, while both were in law school, and they have been married for over 25 years.

They have two adult children, Elizabeth, who teaches music at a KIPP school in Arkansas, and Thomas, a student at the College of William & Mary.
