Christ Church Sunday School
2017-2018 Middle and High School Class Information

Middle and High School classes are held jointly to provide sufficient interaction between Sunday schoolers, which our numbers currently do not support for separate classes. There is the added advantage that the occasional absence of either teacher is no cause to cancel class. (In the event that neither of us can be present and we DO have to cancel, we will make every effort to inform you as soon as possible.) However, in a joint class we are challenged to teach and hold the attention of young people who vary significantly in age, experience, and ability.

In the combined Middle and High School class we emphasize teaching elements of Christian Life, including:

 Recognizing Jesus as our Lord, Savior, and Redeemer

 Learning Holy Scripture focusing but not limited to the Lectionary)

 Knowledge of the church – Liturgy, Practice, and Traditions for Worship

 Evangelism and our responsibility to share the good news and love of Jesus Christ

 Practicing charity, and service to God, the church, and to others

Over the year, we will strive to balance these elements, but on any given Sunday, one or two are likely to We plan to use a formal curriculum geared to Middle School students (Cook ) about one-third of the time. The major events of the Sunday School year can be found on the calendar provided to you. We will present more detailed plan updates with handouts and on the Parish website.
